Community Garden Sitters


 

Main purpose of this post is:


The purpose of the garden-sitters is to keep the garden open and accessible to all community residents as much as possible without the risk of losing valuable plants and/or equipment as well as ensuring the health and safety of all who visit the Community garden. The only requirements are to keep the gate open and to welcome, sign out, and pass out literature. Volunteer gardeners who have attended Southlanders gardening workshops may also prune bushes, weed, oversee volunteers


 

 


 

The person is responsible to:


              Southlanders Community Garden Committee

Horticultural Advisor [HA] Community Development Worker


 

 


 

Training requirements:


   All CGV's must have a minimum of 6 hours supervised volunteering on the Garden, where HA will undertake basic training

 

All CGV's must be willing to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau [CRB] check, [costs will be met by Southlanders

 

 All CRV's must be willing to undertake Basis First Aid Training, [costs to be met by Southlanders]


 

 


 

An average time commitment per week will be:


                 As agreed with Community Garden Committee

Minimum commitment [2 hours per week]


 

 


 

The duties are involved in this job are:


Supervision of all using Community Garden during "shift"

Security of all equipment

Recruitment of additional volunteers

Other activities as identified & agreed during the lifetime of the project
