THE SITE

Access to the benefits of the modern world by a computer and the Internet has long been the goal of Southlanders.

Southlanders can now announce that all visitors to the Community Cafe [every Monday Morning] can benefit from the opening of our

Mobile Information & Technology Centre

Patrons of the cafe will now have the ability to:

  • Receive one to one training and mentoring on all aspects of computer usage on one of the 5 laptop computers recently purchased with a grant from the Learning & Skills Council/West Sussex County Council
  • Access the world-wide web to conduct a wide range of activities as, emails, information gathering etc.
  • Receive training on all aspects of digital photography [starts January 2009]
  • Receive training on how to copy music from Cassettes or LP's, copy home video's to DVDs, as well as actually using the equipment [starts January 2009]

Some development work is currently underway by Southlanders

  • to develop this service in to a "package" which can be offered to other local groups and agencies in the local area
  • to develop the service so as to be able to provide a "media service" to local groups and agencies for conferences etc.

It is intended that these projects and all future ICT projects developed by Southlanders will contain a high level of local, all age, resident participation
